Women in Motorsport | Girl Power

Over the past few years there has been a large focus on the demographic of Motorsport drivers and fans, since traditionally it has been a male dominated sport. With big names such as Susie Wolff previously competing at the top levels of motorsport, we thought we should bring 2 of our Brand Ambassadors to your attention, these women both do much more than just compete, they truly engage the fans on a different level.

Let’s start with Kirsty Widdrington, competing in the British Drift Championship Pro-AM and even made it over for a round in Germany of the Queens of Europe Championship. Kirsty spent a lot of the 2017 season raising women’s profile in the sport by attending numerous demos and events to show off Syril. One thing which really hit home to us here at Racinglines was how Kirsty always had time for her fans, sometimes it was hard to get close to Kirsty and Syril at events as there were queues of people, mostly children all wanting and autograph, photo and a change to sit in Syril, which Kirsty always obliged.

Now on to Terri Young from Team JAPS Motorsport, Terri spent the 2017 season car sharing with her husband Mark, and finished a respectable 10th place overall in the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint Championship. Terri also spends a lot of her time growing the Japanese Car Scene around the country with her car clubs ‘Just Jap’ and 'Costal Car Club', she is definitely one of the go to people in the Japanese Car world who can point you in the right direction for pretty much anything you could need regarding your car. Terri is always at events offering passenger rides in her current car which is also her daily driver. For 2018 she is having a purpose-built race car to compete in Fueltopia Barrel Sprint and Formula G, and we wish her luck in even more success next year.
